Looking out into an unfeeling world
In a universe of indifference
Feeling nothing inside
But a longing of want
Drifting through this curse called life
Searching for meaning
In a world of false smiles
And faces, and feelings too

The mask we wear crumbles away
As we abandon all hope
We bury our dreams like our dead
And we forget them both in the end
Why do we even struggle?
Why do we stubbornly persist?
In this exercise in futility
That we call existence

Broken promises and lies
Buried dreams and hopes
Betrayal, deceit and failure
It is these we master, and makes us who we are

We struggle against the inevitable
We fight to live one more day
We harm, wound and kill
Thinking our lives matter more
In the cesspool of humanity
We are all equal in our filth
In the grand scheme of the universe

All achievement is void
In the face of eternity
Nothing that you do
Ultimately matters in the face of your doom

Pain and suffering
Hate, rage and misery
